Overview of the D3000

The Nikon D3000 might be the perfect digital SLR to tempt you away from your current compact camera.

This beauty is a fully featured dSLR that will literally hold your hand as you take your first steps in digital SLR photography. All those high tech features are presented to you in a wonderful "Intelligent Guide mode" where the camera makes the best choices for the scene you choose before you and then invites you, intelligently, to play with the settings that are most appropriate for adjusting the shot as you grow more confident in your camera technique. This interface on the LED screen makes professional quality images child's play to achieve. If you turn the camera on it's side, the guide on the screen also turns with you making it easy to follow the instructions whatever angle your shot.

The D3000 has many features in common with the more expensive D5000 model including a large 3inch LED view screen and an amazing 11 point AF system. This entry level model doesn't have the Live View or HD video capability of it's bigger (and more expensive) D5000 brother, but the price reflects this difference.

It is easy to use, produces high quality images and will give you professional quality results without breaking the bank.

The sensor caprtures 10 megapixels, which isn't the biggest on the market, but size isn't everything. Unless you intend to produce large (more than 20 inches) blown-up prints from your work, this isn't an issue and the benefits of this little beauty, make it a serious contender in the entry-level dSLR stakes.
